Compatible dvd-r for nec?

I've got an NEC 2500A drive I purchased near the beginning of this year and I've only burnt a handful of discs so far. I got 5 free newegg (Ritek G04 -R) discs and they burnt rather well. I also bought several compusa (really optorite I think) brand discs and none of them would read/playback well at all. I'm now wanting to buy some media at newegg but I'm not quite sure what to buy. Mainly looking at Riteks and Memorex media. Any suggestions on cheap but compatible media??

Thanks in Advance

Ritek media is about as good as it gets. I've seen several hot deals for Ritek media from Newegg.

I've also had good luck with TDK and Memorex media on my Lite-on 8x burner.

Ritek is a good choice. Another good choice which a lot of drive manufactuers recomend is Tayo Yuden

I agree, the "newegg" ritek media worked flawlessly on my burner but what about this Ridata stuff, is that Ritek's cheaper media, is it worth trying to save a few bucks?

I've never heard of Taiyo Yuden before but it's burns looks good, I think I'll look into that, it's a much better deal where you linked to than newegg, it's $31 vs. $53, crazy

I buy quite a lot of media from SuperMediaStore & have never had a bad experience.
Taiyo Yuden is very good media. I highly recommend it, especially if what you are putting on the DVD is of any value.
Ritek & Ridata are the same.

I also have the 2500. I've mainly used high quality media (TY, MXL) that was on sale locally from Best Buy, Staples, OD, OM. Currently, Staples has the 15 packs of Maxell DVD-R on sale for $9.94 - If the spindles have "Made in Japan" on the label, these should be Mitsubishi or TY discs. I did buy a 25 pack of Khyphermedia DVD-R from Office Max as a filler for $10. These were made by CMC Magnetics, not highly regarded, but I've burned almost the entire pack and all play flawlessly.
