Compatible CPU speed of the GA-7vt600 1394

I have a GA-7vt600 1394 mobo in my computer running an AMD Athlon XP 1800+, and it seems a little slow now. I've read through the manual, and all it says about cpu speed is that it is capable of 1.4Ghz and up, which leaves a lot of questions unanswered. I'm thinking of upgrading the processor since i can get a 2700 or even 2800 for less than $100. So what's the fastest I can go with this mobo?

This motherboard is based on the Via VT600 North Bridge, which can do any Socket A processor. So put in what you want, you'd probably be better off getting a Barton though, as they have the 512K cache.

That's what I've been looking at doing. I have 1 gig of memory in my machine running 333fsb, so I want to stay with that. Thanks for the link. I went to gigabyte's website before I posted this, but their search was down, and I couldn't get to that page
