Hi,
My windows was constantly freezing just after it finished loading everything it had to at bootup. So I went into safe mode and in the performance tab of System, I found the problem "Compatibility mode paging reduces overall system performance" then clicked on details for help and this is what is says:
Windows was unable to identify a real-mode driver or
memory-resident program loaded in your Config.sys or
Autoexec.bat file...
Because Windows could not identify the driver or program,
it has switched to MS-DOS compatibility mode...
To improve system performance, remove the driver or program
causing the problem, or contact the manufacturer for an upgraded
version.
Then it lists my floppy drive and my harddrives with this problem.
My Autoexec.bat file contains nothing and my Config.sys file contains one line "DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\setver.exe".
I tried removing the file (by renaming it to setver.old) but it did no good. Anyone know anything about this file or problem and how I can fix it?
Thanks alot,
Winter09
