Compatibility issues with Maxtor DiamondMax 9/10 and nForce4

If this is true, then it explains why I had to install windows so many times when I first built my PC.

I have a Diamond Max 10 and the rest of the specs are in my sig, nForce 4 mobo. No problems whatsoever.

I just went through this.
I just built a A8N SLI-Premium based system with a A64 4000+ and had random reboots and lockups every few hours...couldn't figure it out for the life of me what the problem was.
Turns out it didn't like my SATA drive...it's Diamond Max 9 series.

I've heard about this issue before so I didn't mind going with Western Digital this time around.

If you have a maxtor drive, call them up, and flash the firmware on the drive to the latest, BANC1G10.
I just picked up a 300GB DM10 SATA drive and have no issue at all. (Ultra-D) It came already with this firmware.
Others have verified that the firmware upgrade will fix your problem! 🙂
