Comparison of Text printing of Epson 740 to Epson 900 ?

As a thank you present to someone I will be staying with for quite a while on a business trip I have purchased an Epson 740. I have my own Epson 900, but if the 740 is sufficiently close to the 900 in terms of TEXT (graphics are of much less concern) I will not need to lug my 900 along with me to do printouts.

Does anyone know if the 740 is close to the quality of the TEXT printing of the 900 ? Or does the 740 have an inferior printing quality for business letters and the like ? Thanks

I'd say they are pretty close. I used to have an Epson 900 at work on one of our small workgroup networks. We still have an Epson 740 and it prints just fine. The 740 is a bit slower, but for black and white text it isn't a huge difference.

PCAddict, Thanks for your response. To clarify, in your posting do you mean that "it isn't a huge difference" in terms of speed of printing or in terms of print quality ? I am not too concerned with the speed of printing, but rather whether there is a noticibly poorer quality of text printing with the 740.

I look forward to your response.

Speed. As far as I can tell, the print quality is the same as far as standard text goes. Best of luck.
