Comparing the Camero vs the Mustang

How would you say the two compare overall? The pricing seems to be within a few thousands of each other but you have to balance out the features for the different models. Just looking at the cheapest ones the Mustang was 2K less.

if you're interested, definitely go test drive 🙂

edmunds did a camaro SS vs. mustang GT vs. challenger RT

not a real comparo, i dont believe they were all done at the same time and in same conditions.

There is no comparison. First, the Camaro V6 makes a mockery of the Mustang. Then the V8 again the same happens.

OK, I just compared them 🙂

The V6 Camaro is nice, the mustang is really underpowered, IMO.

Camaro, just because Ford needs to be taught a less about staying true to the concept. Every single car they've made for the past decade always ends up looking like the concept's retarded cousin. The retro mustang is the best example yet, along with the mkz.

Start with this

end up with this

WTFMATE

I have preferred the Mustang in every generation except these newest ones. The new Camaro looks great and seems to offer a lot more bang-for-the-buck.

0-60 the V6's are within 1/2 second of each other.
City mileage is the same, while the Camaro is better on the highway.

Among this power-laden bunch, the Mustang's 315 hp is like bringing a corkscrew to a jihad.

(it's still faster than the challenger, though. oink oink)

How about in areas other than power? Handling, safety, reliablity, ect.
FYI I wouldn't be buying one of these, I'm afraid, I'll have to wait for my mid-life crisis before I can justify another 2 door.

The Camaro has that one piece side structure. No rear quarter panels, the whole side is one piece. Wonder what repairing that will be like since you can't just replace a panel.

LOL. That's the first upgrade I'm doing to my new 2009 Mustang...well, as soon as I can get the wife to get over the shock of a new car payment. 😉

The V6 Camaro is nice, the mustang is really underpowered, IMO.

And yet, the "underpowered" Mustang GTs were still being clocked at 4.9 seconds from 0-60. The Mustang is fairly significantly lighter than the Camaro, and, IMO, easier to live with on a daily basis (simply due to the Mustang allowing you better vision to the rear).

Overall, I think that the Camaro will be faster (with the V6 not quite matching the Mustang GT), but the Mustang will be a more livable day-to-day car. Which is pretty much the way things have always been.

QFT. $ for $, things are right where they're supposed to be.

I know I'm a notorious domestic-loving import-hater (you know the troll I speak of), but I'd probably pick up a stripped 370Z before I even thought about a Mustang GT or Camaro SS. Honestly I'd have fun with any of them.

My 2003 begs to differ.

Not worried about the new Camaro in any trim. ^_^

Heheh, yeah the Terminator is in another league altogether. With the pork on the new Camaro, even a ~600+HP Camaro wouldn't be very impressive, when a pulley mod on the '03/'04 will still make it eat dust.

What's your 1/4 time? Any mods?
Just for comparison against the Camaro SS (13 seconds stock).

Stock '03/'04 Cobras will do mid to high 12s. Cheaply modified versions hit 11s with ease. (Having a SC stock makes adding power a lot easier).

So MUSTANG means Must Use Supercharger or Turbo Against N/A GM? 😛

Wonder if we did apples to apples and had a supercharger on the Camaro

The mustang's engine is a joke. It spews the most CO2, it produces the least power, and it's huge. 210 hp from a 3.6 V6 and 310 hp from a 4.6 V8? Terrible engines. It looks good, but everyone has one.

It's just a different approach, neither is right/wrong. Hell, a Caterham CSR260 will eat almost any car alive on a track, and it does it with a NA 2.3L 4-banger. 0-60 in 3.1 is sweet.

A supercharger on the 4,000lb Camaro would add a bit of straight-line power, but when you start out that heavy, there are diminishing returns for power gains. On a course, I'd be willing to bet my life that a stock C6 400hp would eat the lunch of a 600hp Supercharged Camaro.

So what's a crow's life worth like these days?
