which one is bigger.
I am comparing a kodak Z8612 IS with a samsung l200.

also i know that upping the mega pixels on a small sensor introduces noise. so what is i run the camera at a lower resolution. would that solve the problem.
 
1/2.33" isn't that much larger than 1/2.5" assuming the same aspect ratio. however, 1/2.33" sensors have a 3:2 aspect ratio rather than the 4:3 of the 1/2.5" sensors. given that wider means less surface area for a given diagonal, i wouldn't be shocked to find out that the 1/2.33" sensors actually have less surface area than the 1/2.5" sensors.
