Hi, i believe both drives perform almost the same.

but i am wondering which one is more quiet?

I heard the LiteOn 52x24x52x burner, wow,(ya the case is open and it is on the desk), wow, wow, wow,
it is like a vacuum when reading.

Don't konw about other brand.

i want one that is more quiet. I know when reading, most drives will have noise, but mine is like a vacuum, so exaggerate.

any ideas?

thanks

My 52x liteon burner is no louder than any other burner I've had (including my 40x liteon). Can't compare the Aopen to it though, as I have not used one.

I'm assuming you've never had anything besides Lite-On? :) I had a Lite-On and it was possibly louder then my older Yamaha, which use to make my entire case vibrate. I have a Lite-On DVD, and the thing scares me with how it makes my entire desk rattle when it's spinning up. I have no experince with the A-Open drives. But if you need a quite CD-RW and don't wanna break the bank. You can't go wrong with LG. my 40/12/40x LG is supherb, it's even quiter then my older 16x LG.

If you must get an a-open or Lite-On. All I can say is, even without knowing, I can safely tell you at worst the A-Open won't be any louder :)

The Buslink 52x CDRW (a Lite-on) is much quieter than my old Yamaha 16x10x40 CDRW. The Yamaha drive used to wake up my 2-year old daughter from her sleep (only when it is spin-up/reading/ripping the CDs. It is quiet when it is burning, though).

I heard that Aopen are also good drives. Sometimes I have this weird feeling that they are as good as LiteOn's but people are so wrapped up in the LiteOn name (like how everyone used to think Plextor was the only good drive)

I have a question about my 52x liteon. When I did some CD-CD copy using Nero,
the 24x copy is faster than 48x, why?

The cd is a VCD disk, about 500meg. When at 24x, it took about 5mins, but >7min when 48x is used.
