comparing g3258 vs core2

Just trying to prove that g3258 is possibly the best budget chip ever from intel. This is on my 2yr old h81 $50 motherboard, and a $20 tx3 cooler +70 cpu itself. Runs 4.6ghz @ 1.3v for everyday operation.

It is a sweet little chip no doubt. Just recently Newegg had that cpu plus a Gigabyte H81 board combo for $79.99! And the board is overclockable.

AMD needs to step up their game 🙂

My old work laptop was a core duo and it seems pretty solid for my web browsing needs and that's for a laptop cpu. This being a desktop cpu, I wonder how much of a bump it would be. Would I'd be able have 8 tabs open, HD netflix, facebook, sports page streaming, etc...at the same time?

I would assume this oc'd chip would be roughly 3 times faster than ur mobile chip, if not more in any possible benchmark/activity. I can have 20 tabs (in each browser), hd youtube open no prob, limiting factor is memory size

It's not bad but can't justify spending $70 on a dual core these days. Now if there's an unlocked celeron for $35....
