Compare this laptop to desktop please

I currently have the pc in my sig a few hours i mite sell my pc and buy a laptop tell me if i should im worried about the graphics card. only game i play is counter strike source on high settings.

Well, the 9400 is a true desktop replacement. You'll give up a little HD space and GPU isn't as great but overall the 9400 is a better performer.

Might as well get the 7900GS with the 9400 then, otherwise you're not playing on high settings @ 1920x1200.

Yes, by alot. If money permits, get the 7900GS on your Dell. It'll be a great upgrade over your x800pro as well.

Perhaps, but you have a high resolution screen in that configuration; the x1400 may not cut it. You'll have to play at lower settings.

To put things in a better perspective, the x1400 is equivalent to the old x600 series cards performance wise. That will definatley not suffice at your laptop's resolution for what you expect. I have the x1400 in my laptop, and can barely play Far Cry at medium settings and low resolutions.

Once again, get the 7900gs if you can. The dual core CPU and newer GPU will show considerable gains over your current desktop.

can you overclock the x1400

I've tried overclocking my x1400. In the end I gained no noticeable performance increase so I decided to play it safe.

I wouldn't recommend overclocking a laptop GPU. Not to mention the x1400 is already is just an overclocked x1300, so that leaves little headroom for increase if any.

That's a really good deal if your getting that Laptop for $400, even if it is used. Do you have to sell your desktop?

The E1705 you listed has a WXGA+ = 1440x900 res. Not the UXGA =1920x1200

I think you will be able to play CS:S fine.

Although the UXGA is very nice (got one on my i9300)

Yeh, so if you are running at 1920x1200 then you have the UXGA. Its a nice screen.

However you will run into trouble running games at the screens native resolution.

So you must have the laptop now, do you like it? How well does CS:S run on it?

i= get like 44 fps on high settings, ned to get rid of all the bloatware so im gonna reinstall overclock and optimize windows

its a good laptop for the price
