Compare these speakers

I looked into those earlier but they have about half the wattage. I don't know what wattage means when it comes to speakers though.
 
Wattage means diddly-crap. For inexpensive speakers like these, it does'nt even have much to do with voleume, and a 50 watt Bose system can beat the crap out of a 300 watt GPX boombox any day of the week. Logitech are a good brand, and these ones look pretty darn nice overall. Just make sure you have a half-decent soundcard; Nvidia Soundstorm or a SB: Live! will be fine.
 
Don't worry about the soundcard, Audigy2 ZS here 🙂

Everyone's been recommending the Logitech, and even though it really doesn't match my case, I'll get em anyway.
 
Hmm what about the Z-640's? I'm curious what's better too. Anybody had expeince or found any reviews?
 
The Z-640s look nice, and the cost less, but the SNR is a bit lower. Newegg doesn't have em, which is weird, but ZZF, mWave, and Tiger Direct do for about 50 bucks.
 
I just got the x530's last week and I love them. I was lookin at the z640's too but they are getting hard to find (a discontinued model). It did take some work though to get the x530's sounding good. I had to update my soundcard driver to get the center channel to work and use the driver's equalizer to make the bass sound less boomy.

Now that I have them setup they sound awesome with games and music! No regrets.

I like the sound, with one exception - the bass is way too powerful. I use the nForce2's audio control panel to tame it. If I want "normal" bass, I set the LFE Crossover frequency to 170Hz. If I want no bass, then I need to use the EQ to really kill it. But if the speakers are just given a raw, untweaked signal, you'll get a lot of boom from just about anything you play.
