Compare Contrast Socket A and Slot A

What's the pro's and con's of each. Is it going to be all Socket A (AMD wise) in the future?? Why doesn't Intel use Socket (or do they?)

Intel has primarily moved back to socket with FC-PGA CPUs. The slots are just too expensive in comparison. AMD is probably thinking along the same lines.

I think that Sockets will be the future for a while, I guess that the good side about sockets is that they are marginally cheeper, but that is the only pro that i can think of

Something about heat dissipation also I think. Not sure what though. Any ideas anyone?
