I find the whole "big DSLR" thing to be the geek equivilent of SUVs.
you realise that SLRS have ALWAYS BEEN BIG, the film ones are all big as well
the D70 is actually bigger then my N80 and i find that the n80 is hard to use because of its size, and its prob 30% bigger then the xt at least
ill take a F5 or F6 with grip over a tiny (D)SLR anyday
SLRs by their nature arnt gonna fit in a picket or whatever so making them smaller IMO is pretty damn pointless
Yes, they have always been big, but they don't HAVE to be big. It's a penis-stroker, IMHO. You have the biggest camera on the block, so what? Bigger != better
actually the do need to be big, to accomidate the room for the features they have as well as being properly balanced with lenses, if i put my 100-300f/4 on the 350d it woudl just not work, the body does not balance right with the lens
it has nothing t do with "penis stroking" as you call it, it has to do with useability and versitility,
film cameras hare a lil bigger then digitals becuse they need room for teh film to wind and such
digitals can be smaller but the xt is too small, hell the 20D is smaller then most and its about as small as id go
that pentax isds is tiny as well and IMO unuseable for anyone with non 12yo girl sized hands
