Compaq (ugh!) FP5017 15" LCD Monitor @ Staples - CHEAP

YMMV - I have no idea if this is nationwide or not. The monitor does not show up on the Staples web site

Local Staples had the Compaq FP5017 15" LCD Monitor clearanced at $199
I had a $20 off $100 coupon.

So costs after coupon and tax was: $191.00

There is also a $50 rebate on these, so my end cost was $141.00
Rebate

They are showing online with price from ECost and PCMall of $599 (Yea, right!)
Compaq sells them direct for $379 less the $50 rebate

I called a few places around. Seems that this monitor is only packaged with a computer. Perhaps you got lucky and somehow a monitor got misplaced from it's computer. I called the staples 800# and the lady said it doesn't even have a sku number because they don't sell it by itself. All of the staples stores I called said that they didn't sell any compaq monitors. Good luck to other people trying to find this, but I think it's going to be very very very very very very difficult 🙁 Thanks for the post though!

Interesting.

Our Staples has been selling them separately for a long time. They came in standard Compaq boxes that were obviously for resale by themselves. Compaq and several online retailers also sell them by themselves.

I fired one of them up and it is killer. Better than the Envision sitting next too it. Very thin too.

Anyway here is all the info I can find on the units I got:
Number under the Bar Code: 61332629336
Model: 263873-001
There is also this number: 485467 F

Here are the details as listed on the clearance sign:

how good is this monitor compared to dell 151FP which was in the deal right now at dell.com(free flat panel with the computer). i know both of them are analog not digital but other than that, how good or bad is this monitor compared to dell?

"how good or bad is this monitor compared to dell?"
i have looked at the ones that bb and od have, i think they are nice
however i want one because it would match the evo 510 😀 biased

this has been on clearance for a couple of months -- anyone that can still find one is lucky. If you do find one, you might want to search the web for a printable $30 coupon to make your luck even sweeter.

Absolutly sure.

Not only are these Model# FP5017 but I filled out the rebate form online (linked from the FP5017 product page) and that required a Model # and Serial number and it went through as VALID.

An FP17 is a different monitor.

Darn -was in Staples yesterday and saw a 15" LCD on clearance for $199. Saw this thread today and got all excited. Copied off a $30 off $150 Staples coupon and the rebate form and went down to the store. Who'd thunk that there were 2 15" LCD monitors clearanced for $199. This one is a Philips. So, $169 w/coupon if your store has any.

I bought this LCD yesterday at my local staples, after checking 4 other stores. My staples had this w/o box, but in perfect condition, and un-used, he said they were planning on using it to test computers, but didnt. I plugged it in checked for dead pixels, and got the experience! Its a really nice LCD and my final price after tax was $177. Only problem is I dont think Im elligible for that rebate, but at $177 I will take it. The 1 year warrenty kinda bums me out tho

buy an extended one from compaq -- is one available? i bought a desktop for $150 from od -- that had been vandalized? by someone
but it had a warranty of some sort, because to replace the fried mb and proc was only $90 for labor, parts were free

a 2 year extended warrenty is available from Staples for $99, the best part about the staples warranty is that since they are discontinuing these monitors, the replacement will be something nicer then this LCD. 🙂 Still not sure If i wanna cough up $100 bucks... what'd you all think?
