anyone know how the radeon compares to the nvidia that comes w/ toshibas? i'm running war3 on a toshiba and it runs perfect. i had to tone the graphics down to minimum, but that's fine- it runs as well as it would on any desktop i suppose which is all that matters. i wouldn't be getting a lappy if i wanted to focus on gaming graphics

it's a tosh 1.7ghz w/ an nvidia geforce4 420 GO, unsure what memory. the display is 1400x1050. the centrino 1.3ghz WXGA should be equivalent right ? just wondering what vid card to go with.

The mobile 9200 is faster than a 420, but slower than the 4200 found in the Dells.

just got my order today. i am not sure why tracking numbers were never posted on their website.

the laptop is a dream as far as performance and features go, but i have a huge problem. i ordered WUXGA+ (1920x1200), but they sent me WXGA (1280x900). even my packing slip states WUXGA+ (1920x1200). not only that, but i have this annoying dead pixel in the center of the screen.

the wifi works really well, in fact it is better than the inspiron 8500 with 802.11b/g. i ran the laptop with wifi on for 3 hours surfing the web without the fans ever kicking it. it doesn't even get hot, only warm to touch. ambient temps in my room is around 25 celsius.

i plan to exchange or return this and get another one.

btw, the 40gb 4,200rpm hd is a toshiba, the dvd-cdrw is a Teac DW-224E

let me know if anyone have same problems.

Thats a pretty huge mixup, sending a WXGA when you ordered a WUXGA.

I hope it's an isolated one.

thats not THAT huge a mixup. i mean its only one component.



the other thing is he's gotten an escalation. thats a GOOD thing. though he will get a delay, HP as i've known their policy is very generous when you get an escalation.

i've heard of people getting celeron desktops upgraded to loaded p4s, free LCD monitors etc. its possibly they will give you 1-200 dollars back, or a faster cpu, etc
