FYI, I got my printer today (arrived yesterday but I wasn't home to pick it up). Sounds like some of the guys at FW are getting their laptops today as well (not sure when they ordered, though).

When did you ordered and what memory it comes with?

And please tell me about the Printer rebate which is the model number? is it 3847 or the other long number with characters in it on the side.

Ordered it Tuesday evening (8-16); I haven't cracked open the memory slots yet. Someone at FW said Hynix memory came with it. As for your model number, that would almost certainly be the longer number as included on the box.

If anyone needs any of the forms for any of the rebates for this laptop deal let me know. I have blank copies of all of them I can scan and email you a copy.

That is really nice of you.
So Deskjet 3847 is not a Model Number are you sure? Or any body else has any suggestion on it?
I hope most of the people should get their printers by now, so please put your thoughts about this printer rebate please.

I managed to screw up my forum acct. If anyone pm'd me or emailed me about needing form please send the request again, I had to make a new user name to get back on the forums. My new one is the same as the old one, just with a nubmer 1 after it. I have no clue what happened with my old acct.

Got the printer on Saturday, day seven. It is day nine and the tech depot site still says the laptop is "In Process" so still waiting to be built in China? I could really use it for a trip this Labor Day weekend (USA), so hopefully it will arrive by Friday the 2nd. Off topic: Anyone here use a laptop based GPS?

aphro,

Don't beat yourself up about it, there is ALWAYS a better deal around the corner. I was upset about missing the Staples $499 v2000z deal, but this OD deal that was better came along. If you don't mind a heavier laptop the HP zv6000 is on sale at Office Depot this week:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=40&threadid=1675366&enterthread=y

Upgrade to the AMD64 chip and get the additional $100 rebate.

As always good hunting.

I would have had a tough time passing up the zv6000 deal if it came first. Dedicated memory for the graphics card, powerful Athlon-64, cheap upgrades...but it is definately a desktop replacement system. You're looking at a good 9 pound laptop there. Not something that's easy to cart around. More powerful than the v2000z for about the same price, but not a good choice if you plan on actually taking it places.

***one last desperate bump***

thanks for the kind words, HomeAppraiser, but i think gilby pretty much hit it on the head. Does anyone else wonder why none of the ports (except the PS) are in the back of the laptop? Is this a new trend for laptops or just hp/compaqs?

11 Biz days or 11 days total?
One of the FW guys called a CSR and they said 11 business days total before shipping - one for order to go from TechDepot to OD and one day for OD to China (or something), plus the 9 biz days it takes to build.

I was really hoping to get it before Labor Day, but maybe not. :(

Holly Crap 11 business days i thought they said mostly 2 weeks before you get it. This is outrageous, i was hoping to get it before long weekend too. Damn 9 days to build a laptop? looks like there is only 1 guy working in China for Techdepot, and even 1 guy who knows about computer hardware can do faster than this. I am really mad, i hope they ship it in this week.
I am going to call them tonight to see whats going on.

"Auto-mo-bile?"

No, Com-paq lap-top.

Hmm for me, techdepot website just says "in process".
Who knows what that means?

Previously, some support person had replied to me saying it'd ship on the 2nd. (I ordered late in the day on the 19th.)
Darn slow to build. I just hope there are no problems.

WEll, It is only 11 days total for me. Not biz days. On other forums I have seen built and shipped and delivered in under 2 weeks. Maybe because of Anandtech they had a few more orders than usual??:)
But the CSR at OD did say that the printer would be shipped fairly quick. He did not say how quick, but I would have thought the printer was in the US and ready to ship. Anyway I am kinda wanting my printer, I need one bad and I upgraded the printer option. Then the more I thought about it the more I wanted the wireless one. I asked if I could trade my unopened one for the wireless printer and 50.00 they said yeah, not sure how to handle the rebate though. We will see.

Maybe Staples have more clout? I ordered 2 from them 2 weeks ago and got both (2 separate orders) in about a week. They both came FedEx from Shanghi !!!

With the back-to-back Staples, Office Depot and other store?s CTO deals they are probably swamped with orders or have supply shortages of the upgrade items.
