Compaq Presario laptop - would you buy this?

This is available for $500.

- Brand new, older model (warranty as of yet unknown)
- CDRW & DVDROM
- Processor speed (as of yet unknown)
- 20GB HDD
- 256MB RAM

Not necessarily needing a laptop, but would you buy this if given the option? I know Compaqs are nowhere near the top of the laptop food-chain.

If it had at least an 800mhz processor, is a mobile-cpu, isn't stolen, and I have the money, I'd get it.

i dunno, sounds like a good deal to me. the processor can't be too old if it's equipped with the other stuff. it's probably a PIII or PIII-based celeron... but if you don't need a laptop, don't buy one 😉

My brother asked me if he should.. he doesn't necessarily need one, but he thought it may be good for the future. He's got my old AMD K6-2/350MHz desktop at the moment with a 2X CDRW and no DVDROM (but a laptop ain't much better with it). It's from his gf's brother, so we can trust him as far as details go.

I've had a Presario laptop for over 3 years now 🙂 It's had its little problems, but nothing major (trim bits and the like) 🙂

w/ a DVD-ROM and CD-RW I'd definitely buy it for $500.

It depends on which model.

If it's the 700 I would think long and hard about it and do some research (I've heard some bad bad things about the 700).

If it's the 900 then yes.

If it's the 1500, then gimme your address and I'll buy it off you!
