different cores and i think voltages on the K6-3's

i dont see why a K6-2 500 or 550 wouldnt work.

the 80mhz may actually be a 75mhz, whats the chip say on it? the K6's had a metal heat spreader with the writing on it. bus speed, voltage, etc. that would give you alot of the info.

have you tried to get intot he bios, whats it say? any cpu adjustments there since i didnt see any on the mobo.

Sure, the heatspreader says:
AMD-K6-2/400AFQ
2.2V CORE/3.3V I/O
A 9914DPCW

I can't remember if I checked the BIOS in the beginning, but haven't put the CPU back in to check since.

Thanks. So a 550 might not work since it's 2.3V? Could one of the jumpers change the voltage?

one of the jumpers should change the voltage, key word should, the 500mhz should be 2,2v. if the 550 is 2.3v you may be able to have it run undervolted.
