The Ipaq Music Center is on sale/closeout at Tiger Direct for $329.00. This device was originally listed at $999.99 and many were sold for that and the reduced price of $799.99. I own this unit and it is great. See the discussion thread at Yahoo Groups.

Find out more information at Compaq's Web Site

I know a lot of people will whine about Tiger Direct, but I have used them for over eight years and have probably purchased twenty different items from them with out a problem. They have shipped fast, and when there was a backorder issue they kept me in the loop as to its status.

Keep in mind that there are many people here that love to complain and have their expectations out of line with reality. Don't believe all the hype you read on this board without doing your own due diligence.

End of Lecture!

Now let the flaming, whining, and thread crapping begin...

Interesting deal.

A couple of practical questions about the product's use, if you don't mind.

1. Do you have to use dial up or can I connect this beast up uver a USB-802.11?
2. Can you hack it to increase the storage capacity?
3. What streaming media formats does it support?
4. Does it store cookies/pwds for authentication/tracking when listening to Internet radio stations ?- these days many /most require a subscription to listen...

I'm so new with using the system I can't answer your questions. Go to the Yahoo Group that discusses this system,

I purchased one direct from Compaq but it was damaged in shipping. I returned it last week then discovered the Tiger Deal (cheaper, and the one Compaq shipped me was an obvious Store demo returned to them. I also just recently purchased the HP de200c. I will decide which one I like best and Ebay the other.

Hey TrouserTrout:

Did you find a closeout price on the HP de200c?? If so, how much and where?

I bought the HP de200c from a guy that had one. Like I mentioned, I will evaluate it and the Compaq and choose between them.

Let me know if you are interested in the HP unit.

thanks

I might be interested in the de200c (is it really a de200c? I though there was only the de100c...)
Depends on how much it is...HP has discontinued this model, too, so it should be coming down to
a comparable price to the Compaq deck...What did you pay?

I believe this a repost of a recent thread...

Also, Tiger Direct sucks...I wouldn't buy from them. :(

My apologies. There recently was a thread on this same product but at a higher price.

Same poster too.

I told you there would be a whiner. TigerDirect has been great for me. I have used them for almost eight years and over 20 items and zero problems.

Perhaps some of these same people that have problems with TigerDirect have lots of problems outside of internet vendors.

The hp200c has a 20 gig HD (instead of 40gig), has one USB port and no HPNA.

It was produced by HP, but never released. They sold them all internally to employees.
