Hi, it's 3 AM here and I have spent the last 3-4 hours reading up on PDA's and I have decided I wanted an iPAQ. Well I actually decided this a week ago but do you realize how hard it is to find? Well a major site has it in stock! I just found it by pure luck. I know this is going to get me flamed but if you really want this for yourself. If you are truly going to use this for your business or to organize your life, leave me a PM and when I wake up in 6 hours, I will tell you where to go. This is only to protect people who really want one from the lurkers who are just grabbing to eb*y it off.

Thanks so much!! I had been checking on this at Staples all last week and it was OOS every time. Just ordered it no problem!! Of course I haven't gotten a confirmation e-mail yet, but it's only been 30 seconds since I ordered.

You guys better call their csr to confirm that they have it in your area. I can order online but when I called the csr she told me that it's unavailable for my area even though I can order it online. I still have not gotten the confirmation yet so I assume that I'll never get it. Good luck... Another screwup by staples.. you have to wonder what kind of dumbas$ is working there.

You guys are welcome. Here are the answers to your questions.

1) The $39 rebate is if you buy a CompactFlash expansion and iPaq before 12/31/00 you will get $39 back. Search for "ipaq rebate pdf" or something and you will find it. It should also come with the iPaq box itself although they had forgotten to pack it a few months before, that should be fixed now.

2) I just called CSR. If you guys haven't received confirmation yet then call before 4pm tomorrow and inquire about it. And if by then it's still not in the systems then place a new order. Jason said they check stock not when you order it, but when they file it into the systems. So since it is out of stock now it will still be out of stock when they file it.

3) Conclusion: This is probably a website error so count the iPaq's good bye.

Edit: I had actually found this before the Staples thing. If you go to www.compusa.com and search for the iPaq you can find out which stores in your area have them. I entered mine and they have them in stock down the road. The question is, should I get it and pay about $40 more? It would be $80 more with no tax and $40 coupon but I forgot Staples.com adds tax. Yes or no?

Anyone actually have these in stock ??? I dont care how much, its for x-mas present.. I need 2 NEW with the expansion pack for compact flash.. circuit city advertise it but doesn't have it, all the online search say not in stock. CompUsa says out of stock..

A few thoughts.

The pdf is available at alot of places online. Cmon people, if you really really can't find it using google then I give up and I'll email it to you. The coupon should also be in the box but I've heard that it's been missing for a few batches.

I am telling you guys that CompUSA has them in stock. Just use the website and enter your zip. If you enter it and it says out of stock in your five closest one, pick one an hour away. Driving two hours is better than waiting til next year to get one. I also know that Circuit City, Sears, Staples and Best Buy gets them in. These seem to be only "hot" online. I hear about people getting them through retail channels all the time. Just walk in and ask.

I pick one in ct and nyc, Long island, all the ones I can reach, 2-3 hour , 75 mile diameter.. out of stock... oh well, i order one for 499 but it says ships in 2 weeks..

Since getting them, our handsprings and palms are sitting in a drawer collecting dust...heheh


Running Wireless LAN on them is nice using a PCMCIA jacket.
