i posted this yesterday and got no response. i'm not sure what that means. it looked like a good deal to me cause just the 2 P4 2.0 GHZ xeons are $500 on pricewatch.

It's little high b/c Xeon 2.0Ghz is only around $265 each

Now, the "normal" Xeon 2 GHz/512K cache can be found easy for under $300 each, actually the 2.2 GHz probably can also. But, when you buy a Tier-1 manufacturer system the processors are 'way' more - probably for warranty purposes, etc.

I think HP may have dropped this line, but for comparison a somewhat similar Dell 530 workstation is ~$2,800 - but with newer features (IMHO)...

Confirmed with a tigerdirect rep that the Cache is only 256KB, so these Xeons are almost regular P4s.

Note that they have taken off all references to the cache from the web page.

Asked them if they would drop the price now that the deal is not hot and they said no.
