Kind of in common with my other thread, but my wife's boss is paying $225 a year for a designed site + hosting + domain name. Not a super high traffic site or lots of data. Should I just suggest to stick with what he's got?

That's not a bad price IMO. Less than $20 per month. She could host it herself but then she would have to keep track of everything and do any updates etc.

That's pretty reasonable for decent quality hosting. Does the company do updates as well? Or do they need to do their own? If they do their own updates they could potentially save $50-100 a year moving to a new host. Not really worth it if they are happy with their current provider IMO.

They hardly ever do updates. I've priced out a separate host, but don't think that they have the ability to move everything over. And I don't want to figure it all out for $150, since that's what would be left to equal them out.

Which web host?

You can get a better deal (around $120/yr) but that's assuming you can transfer the data.

Did your wife's boss sign a contract? Assuming you can get access to the HTML/files/email/MySQL databases, you should be able to transfer to a new host.

If they're happy with the current hosting $225/yr isn't a bad deal since that includes web design.

I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle just to save around $10 - $15 per mo?

Don't think that the website would allow data transfer as it's a template driven site. It's visionfriendly.com, just a local place. I have no way to access what's on the server, and I don't think that the boss is savvy enough to figure it out himself.
