Compactflash vs. Fast Compactflash

Does it really make a difference for an average camera (like Canon A85) whether you have regular compactflash or a "fast" compactflash card? Or is the camera itself the bottleneck?

in the A85 it sould not make much if any difference

in a Digital SLR it makes a night and day difference

I've noticed a big difference when using a high speed card vs a low speed card in my Canon S200. It takes pictures faster, I can look through the pictures faster, and I can copy/erase pictures faster.

Just found this review, which mentions:

"Canon includes a 32MB "high speed" CompactFlash card with the camera. I've estimated the speed of the card at around 8X, and you need not spend money on anything faster, as the camera can't take advantage of it."

So 8x is the best it'll use, according to that review.
