Compact Flash

NutBucket

Alright, I'm new to media like this stuff. Years back I had some smart media for my Rio and I have a memory stick for my CLIE but what's with all the different kinds of compact flash? I just got my S200 and want to pick up a 256 compact flash card for it but there's ones that are like $50 and ones that are $100+. What's the difference and do I really need a faster one or?

I'm nobody's ho but yours 😀

Last time I bought 256MB CF I think I paid $30 after coupon, rebate and pricematch with free shipping?

Woohoo!

Much as I love ya, you're not helping🙂

Lol...

There's CompactFlash and CompactFlashII, but to tell you the truth, I don't know of the difference, if any, between the two. Just get one and you should be ok.

Well, like Sandisk has regular and Ultra. I think the difference is write speed. Does this matter for what I'm doing?

I would buy Kingston or Lexar brand if I were you, don't ask why.

Well, since I'm not in the mood waiting for deals, generic 256 for $50 sounds like a deal to me.

I swear if I ever hear that you paid retail for something, I'm gonna explode!

Retail is for $ucker$

There are different kinds of CF memory cards that differ in write speeds. These are mainly for digital cameras and you will notice no difference if you are using them in a PDA or an MP3 player.

I already got a deal on the camera. Hmm, wonder if I can negotiate the CF card at Good Guys.....

Retail is for those people who value their time more than $50. 😀

Again retail is for $ucker$ and for people like me who would rather spend 1 hour finding the Hottest Deal than just buying it from Best Buy, is that better?

I bought 5 of the 512MB sandisk ultra CF from dell for $98 each a few weeks ago. They had the 15% off going and free shipping. That was a good deal.

That works. When I grab the one for $50 it'll still be at least $30 cheaper then most other prices and only $20 more then what you had to really work to get. I'm meeting retail half way.
