...as in the title. Does the brand of CF cards matter at all?
Reason is...my 3635 is coming in the mail and I'm looking into getting some expansion for it. I'm seeing pretty good deals on cards but they're all brands I've never heard of. So?
Personally I would go for the established brands such as Kingston, Viking, Lexar, ScanDisk, etc. I believe CostCo B&M is selling 128MB CompactFlash made by ScanDisk for $50 with no rebate hassles.
Couple of my friends and my G/F use CF and smartmedia from Mr. Flash. Nobody is having any probs with it so far. I havent found any memory cheaper as of yet here and according to they're site it has a lifetime warranty.

Oh yeah, the only thing that sux bout Newegg is they only FedEx, no UPS or USPS which would be cheaper:disgust:
I'd say yes. Other then the 8MB Canon CF card that came with my S10, I also purchased a 32MB card from Simple and a 64MB card from Viking. The Viking card has much better seek and write times compared to the Simple card.
Yes it does matter. Do a search in the forums about compact flash memory but I think I remember seeing that the SanDisk memory was slow compared to memory from other manufactures.
If you can afford Lexar high speed cards, and you have a high-res camera that could benefit from it, go for lexar. I would say otherwise that pretty much any card is OK. I have a couple mr flash cards that work perfect in my g2.
