i rmaed my motherboard.. but it doesnt seem to be the mothreboard was the problem.. the cpu has 2 broken pins at the corner.. tis a 2800+ newcastle a64 paired with the chaintech vnf3-250 zenith edition. when i start up the comp i get a black screen no bios, and continuous beeping.. what could this problem be?

it should be the video card correcT? due to the fact that the mobo still beeps. this mustmean the cpu is wokring fine.. and im sur eits not the mobo anymore as i have had the same problem with both the orginal and the RMA'd one

Just because the mobo is beeping doesn't mean the CPU is fine. Is it displaying anything on the monitor? If it is, then it is routing the video through the CPU without a problem and is most likely another issue.
I just recently picked up a AMD Sempron 3000+, EPoX 8KDA3J, and Kingston 1.5GB (512x3) PC3200. It came to post and stopped. Found out the motherboard needed an update to use the 1st and 3rd DIMM with a Sempron CPU. It may be a case like that for you.

You dinna mention about the heatsink earlier so how could I factor that into the equation?
Broken pins on the CPU isn't a good thing either.
Replace the Video card, if the motherboard persists in its current behavior then logically the next piece to consider would be the CPU.

Wait, there are two broken pins on the CPU and you're wondering what's wrong. Sounds like the two broken pins might be a hint ;)

"Continuous beeping" is not too descriptive. Award states that, currently, the only beep code indicates that a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information. This beep code consists of a single long beep followed by two short beeps. Any other beeps are probably a RAM problem. The reason that the Award BIOS only uses the beep code for display problems is that it tries to display the error on-screen if at all possible. If the BIOS cannot initiate the display adapter then this causes the BIOS to make the beep code for a display error, which must be corrected before any other errors can be determined. Memory Test fails and hard disk failures etc will all be displayed on screen.

OTOH, some people swear that there is another pattern pertaining to the CPU, i.e., repeating hi/low beeps means a damaged or overheating CPU, while high frequency beeps mean an overheating CPU.
