i recently bought some new memory for my comp, what i already had was:

http://www.axiontech.com/prdt.php?item=59121 (its discontinued, bought it from newegg but they dont list it anymore, not sure why i bought 3500, mobo doesnt support that high, but it just runs at 400mhz anyways)

was trying to add a stick of:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146190

wanted to bump up to 2gig.. comp wont even boot when i put it in tho, if i take out the two 512's and just put in the new stick, it does boot, i've tried the 3 in diff dimm slots, but no go.

my mobo i'm using is:

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8T_Neo-FIS2R

i noticed on the website it says Note: PC3200 (DDR400) maximum 4 banks (2 double-sided) only. looked through my manual but it doesnt say that anywhere, i'm thinkin that might be why it wont boot, my 512 ram sticks are both double sided.

anyone know for sure on this? if it is from trying to use more than 4 banks...would buying another stick of the 1 gig pc3200 stuff i bought work?

doesnt say it requires registered memory.. it boots up fine tho with just the 1 gig stick of ram, just not with all 3 in

Have you done a BIOS update? When you installed the new memory module did you press down pretty hard? The system should boot up with just that 1GB module installed even if there is a banking limitation. If all three modules are double sided the memory might default to 333MHz but still boot.

Some boards simply don't like certain brands/types of memory. I have never been able to get my Soltek nForce3 250gb board to boot with Mushkin RAM, yet everything else has worked fine.

well all 3 chips are mushkin.. it boots with the 2 512's, or the single 1gb.. it wont however boot with all 3, and also wont boot with 1 512 and the 1gb, so i dont think its just the 3rd slot.. when it doesnt boot it just doesnt at all, just turns on the HD light for a lil bit, then stops, nothin happens, i havent updated the bios since i bought this comp, long time ago.. i didnt really wanna mess with that too much, i may tommarow tho, dont have time tonight

Since the motherboard manual specifically states that only 4 "banks" of memory are supported, and you stated yourself that each of the 512MB's are 2 "banks", then I'm going to say unless a newer bios changed that, you will be limited to the 1GB and 1 of the 512MB in there.
