Comp turns on for split second before turning off

Hey, I have an epox 8rda3+ with
athlon 1800xp
nvidia geforce 3 ti200
2 WD HDDs
cd burner
cd drive
shit sound card
300w antec PSU

I have everything hooked up, but when i power on, the fans spin for a split second and the comp turns back off.

Anyone know what the source of this problem is?

First 2 guesses are: not receiving cpu fan signal, mb shorted to case.

the fans all spin, and i have tried the different fan conecters on the board, also im positive that the boards not shorted as i would have noticed any metal behind the board when i was installing it

do the standard disconnect EVERYTHING from mobo except psu/cpu.
see if you can coax a beep or two.

if that doesn't work, place mobo on a piece of cardboard and do the same.
if no luck, then prob is cpu/mobo and/or psu.
sorry can't be more help at the moment -

its hard work, but has got to be done if you want to find out what the prob is
