So my computer was running perfectly find until i decided to reboot it today (havent done so in about a week). I rebooted and got the "windows xp didnt shut down properly" screen with the option to go in safe mode, last known good config, or start normally. No matter what I choose once it gets to the windows xp loading screen where the little bar goes across it reboots right back to that options screen.

I havent had any hardware changes in about 3 months. I could use some help!

Thanks

There's a lot of causes for this problem. But the fact, that you cannot even boot to safe mode it could most likely to be a hardware problem. Although a virus infection is also a good possibility. So the first to troubleshoot is software based. Boot using an anti virus boot disk and then ran an anti virus program. If this does not solve the problem, boot from an XP CD and then ran chkdsk. If this still does not fix the problem, ran a bare system with only a video card, on hdd, one optical drive, and a stick of ram. If this does not fix the problem, then it's time to try a different psu. If the problem still persists, then try a repair re-installation.
