Comp. locks up under specific software?

Hi,
I was hoping maybe some people have had this same problem. I have recently installed Morpheus file sharing software but noticed that it continually causes my computer to lock up. I have used progs. like Gnotella and they would only cause my computer to crash when I do other things while it is running (don't you love buggy software?) so I am confused why Morpheus freezes specifically.

Example scenario:
Comp is running stable so I decide to run Morpheus. Within 5 minutes, the computer will freeze from anywhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes, then continue doing normal work as if nothing had happened. Anytime Morpheus is running, the computer will lock, even if minimized, but no stability problems when it is not running.

I was hoping somebody might be able to shed some light on why this is happening.
My system :

AMD Tbird 1 Ghz 266 FSB
ABIT KT7A
WindowsME (i know i know but win2k doesn't support all the games yet!)
256MB PC133 SDRAM
Guillemot Hercules Geforce256 DDR-DVI 32MB
SoundBlasterLive Value Sound card
D-Link 10/100 NIC
Netline USB Ethernet 10/100 Adaptor (Why can't ATT just use a regular NIC? :-( )
MS Intellimouse
HP CD-Writer

Is this just buggy software or is a conflict causing this? Also, I have been forced to use my awesome ASUS V7700 Deluxe in my linux comp because the ABIT KT7A will NOT boot w/ it. Fine use of $200 right? Has anybody else had this problem? Won't even post.

Thank you.

Edit : While it is running Morpheus, I am also running BlackIce, but I don't think that would affect it in that manner

Well, I can't help except by asking the following questions:

1. Are any IRQ's Shared?
2. Do you have the latest 4in1 Drivers Installed?

And that is all I can do.

I cannot remember how to view my IRQs besides inside bios. Is there a faster way to check it? I believe the only IRQs shared are my video w/ another but why would it only freeze when running that particular thing and not during other times?

look in device manager, highlight computer at very top, then click properties! 🙂
