Comp has serious problems while online

I built my system and internet was working fine, but lately it's been messed up. Sometimes it will be ok, but most of the time nothing on my toolbar responds, it moves horribly slow, or i cant download anything because it says i have a connection problem. My ISP is earthlink, and i know it's not them because it works fine on my mom's (the computer i'm using now isnt hers). Anyways, if you think u know something, dont hesitate to reply! I cant even download new AVG updates.

However, i run Ad-Aware, and i usually come up with 1-2, but last time i ran i came up with 9, but all were deleted fine. And with AVG, it catches virus's once and a while, but it heals most of them (quarenties the rest)

Anyways, please help out here!
 
Download AVG and a firewall onto a second systems and burn a CD with those items, along with anit-spyware.

Reformat and install the OS cleanly on the infected system.

Install the software from the CD before you connect to the Net.

Image your system.

Setup your Net connections.

If everything is stable, image a second time.

Safe computing is more important than safe sex:evil: (You can infect more people a lot faster)
