Comp gives error signal (cpu failed)

Hey, a friend of mine has a computer that was custom built bout half a year ago and whilst working on it today apparently it suddenly shut off and then now whenever you try to turn it on the only thing that happens is after app 10 sec a voice says something like "cpu failed...". The main problem is the screen doesnt turn on. it is an asus a8v deluxe mobo with an amd athlon 64 3500+. Any ideas??, powersupply bust cpu or sumthing??
 
you could try resetting the CMOS with the onboard jumpers in case the processor has become overclocked out of its working range.
