Comp doesn't boot after going to BIOS.

I'm on the computer right now, but earlier I was having some major difficulties with it. This is my first home-built computer and everything went smoothly. (Booted and Installed XP on first try) Only problem was when at the POST screen I would hit Delete to enter my BIOS to see if everything registered correctly. I save my BIOS and boot-up normally, but after shutting down the comp would only start up for maybe 5-10 seconds then completely turn off.

I played around with my hardware a litlle making sure everything was OK. The way I can only fix this problem is either resetting the CMOS using the jumper or hitting F1 to not go to the BIOS on the POST screen. I wanna overclock etc... but I can't with this problem.

My Setup:

- ABIT AV8 uGuru
- AMD 64 3200+ Winchester
- 512 Corsair Ram
- 450w L & C PSU.... 🙁
- BFG Geforce 6800OC
 
Try a low-powered video card in there and see if it can stay running with less power draw, if you have a leftover GeForce-family card lying around (or Radeon-family, just something that isn't drawing huge amounts of power).

Thanks for the compliments 🙂 I had lots of feedback from Forum members to help refine it. I think it's still too wordy but maybe I'll get inspired and go revise it sometime 🙂

You seriously need to get a better power supply than that. You have a very nice system with a
generic power supply. Get a high quality unit and you may just fix your problem and help stop future problems. 🙂
 
Hahahaha, yep. It came with the case and I just said, what the hell why not? Oh well, the comps working great so far and it was fun as hell building my first comp. Once I get a job or some money (currently am 14 years old) I'll get that new PSU but for now I'll go with what I got. No OC'ing for me! (for now)
