Comp Crashing please help

I jsut got a brand new comp with an athlon 2200+ gig of ddr soyo kt333 motherboard etc... it came with a ti4600 but i replaced it with a radeon 9700. and ever since then it has given me nothign but problems... i have gone so far as to reinstall windows xp pro just to try and make it work, and it didnt change anything. the comp will randomly reboot, or it will reboot loading a game, or in a game... even games like risk2 and civ3... not high graphic games. it often reboots during installs... please help anybody. im about to just go back to win2kpro. cause every error report form microsoft says there is a device maneger issue... is it a problem with the ati drivers or what?
 
TheEvil1 try rasing your voltage in the bios some and see if that helps stability any. I was having some bad freezing problems on my GF4 ti 4400. I spent everyday for like 30 days + trying to fix it and i finally fixed it. Heck yeah it took a long time to fix my problem but still i was going to fix it no matter what. I don't care what i had to do. I was determined that i was going to fix my GF4 ti 4400 problem because i knew it was not a faulty card, was a driver issue, etc. So i just said i am going to fix it no matter what it takes. Even if it means i have to sit at the computer for 30 days trying to fix it till i get it. To me tech support gets no better than being your own tech support most of the time with figuring out the exact right way to fix the problem. Forums do help a lot too for sure so thats something that helps you get ideas of what to do or even sorta want to do. Even if its just part of it.

TheEvil1 please let me know how it goes. I not sure if i want another via chipset because i think my next chipset may be a nvidia or amd chipset. I know amd is out of the chipset market but still.






 
First thing is to make sure that you have the additional power plug required by the 9700 plugged in. I know it is a simple mistake, but simple mistakes are very common even among veterans. Also, when you say reinstall Windows XP, do you mean totally repartitioned/reformated or just repaired your installation? If the latter, try a total format. As well, make sure your power supply can handle the 9700. It requires quite a bit of power, and this could definitely lead to an unstable system in conjunction with a weaker power supply. Try updating your BIOS to the latest version. Also, try disabling AGP Fastwrites in your BIOS as well as 1WS Read and Write if you have those options... Good luck.
