comp cases

ok i have been planning to build a really insane comp. Right now i am choosing a cases. i am deciding between a regular ATX mid tower and a cool ATX cube case.

could n/e one give me advice and places where i could find these cases?

I have a Shuttle XPC and it is just too limited. Ended up with addind a Sonata based system and a Lanboy system. The Aria looks to be a good case but the motherboard selection would be too limited.

If I had it to do again I would have purchased a P160 and 450+ watt Antec or Enermax PSU.

Check out Newegg or Direction.com. Plenty of other case sites.

Like eric said, newegg is a good place to look around. After you make a choice don't forget to google it to see if you can find it cheaper.

How is it limited? It will take any mATX board... not only that, but its also the only cube case that is completely customizable.

if you go mid-tower, you're going to have a huge range of selection and decent prices. the only downside is that you'll be limited in terms of expansion bays (I've already run out of 5.25" bays on my CoolerMaster), and in some cases, cooling isn't the greatest.

SFF cases are pretty neat, but they have the same downsides as mid-tower cases (but to a greater degree), and you're also limited as far as how much hardware you can dump into it. most of the ones that I've seen only have 2 PCI slots and 1 AGP.

Only disadvantage of full-tower cases are price and size. If you're going for something that's going to blend in, a full-tower case probably isn't going to be it.

Do anyone you know of the UFO case?

It have space for a full ATX mobo, five or six PCI slots, and a lot of room for devices.

That was going to be my choice but i have seen others

How about the Hyber Cbe YY from Frozencpu.com ?

oh. one more thing. Since i am going to have really high end and HOT running devices would it be better to get a water coolling loop like the Resonator or something?

I think watercooling is only necesarry for people that want to achieve high overclock speeds and/or have a very silent case. Anyway, what hardware are you going to fit in?

a AMD FX, a pair of raptors, some dual channell mem, the ATI X800 XT Plat., cdrw, dvdrw, i am planning to use the Asus SK8V mobo. the socket 939 one. i for get the chipset i know it is a VIA.

Evercase E4252, Newegg has the version with 2 HDD brackes in right now. Best case for cooling out there, and a good one for quieting on top of that.

Do you already have a PSU? If not the Antec Sonata could be a nice deal since it comes with a 380W Truepower psu. Sonata should be quit silent as well.
If you have a big budget you might wanna concider the Lian Li V1000. ( http://www.bridgeview.com/aluminum/mid/pcv1000.html ) Lots of space, aluminium, great buildquality and good looks (personally 😉) It doesn't come with a psu, so you'll have purchase one

Hello BrokenArrow64FX,

Since you're obviously looking for a quality case and money seems to be no object (hehe), I would recommend the case that I bought from Newegg yesterday linky. This is a high end case for comparitively little money. Falcon Northwest uses these, so there is no question that they are excellent. Check out the link above, read some reviews and I think you'll agree. Do yourself a favor and get this case before the price goes back up!

Cool thank you all.

now i don't have anything bought yet. i am still in the planning stage.

and yes i am looking for a really cool case. I haven't found one i really like (save the hypercube YY from frozencpu.com) i also have plans to mod a case that i have now just in case (no pun intended) i can't find one.

Cooler Master CMStacker is pretty unique and very adapatable as to where you place the drives. Plus it can handle 2 power supplies!

One thing that bugs me about this case is the 6 front USB ports. In order to get them all to work, you will need 3 open USB headers on your MB, and since most MB's only have 2 open headers (for a total of 4 ports) you will have some of those front USB headers with no functionality. That just really bugs me for some reason.
