P4 2.4 on an Abit IC7 mobo
1.5 gigs of PC3200 Corsair XMS RAM
MSI 6800 NU (not riva tunered to open the pipes)
Windows XP Pro
Big Antec case (that should be cooled just fine with air)

So, I've had a feeling my computer is not running up to par for quite some time now. Restarting itself during some video encoding as well as when playing CS: Source.

Last night I was playing a particular intense game of CS: Source with like 40 players on this small map (iceworld). Was running fine for an hour then really started to slow down and get choppy...this choppines lasted for about 5 minutes and get progressively worse then....boom...comp shuts down.

What does anyone reckon this is? Vid card? RAM? CPU? I just need some suggestions where to start.

Thanks

I've noticed it's doing it (shutting down) frequently when I've got DVD shrink ripping a DVD too. I've heard RAM is a good place to start? How do I check this out?

I would say your Graphics Card is overheating. However, your CPU might be overheating too.

Check your temps using speedfan or everest.

Yup, looks like you are having some over heating problems. Do you have any program that tracks temp. on your system.
