Comodo's Free Firewall

Was just told about Comodo's free firewall, and have it downloaded. Am getting a bit annoyed with Zone Alarm Pro's pervasive alarms (even when they are turned off). I might even go back to free Zone Alarm - it interferes less with what I am doing.

So, anyone use Comodo or tried it? If so, how is it? Di you keep it?

I downloaded it after reading about it in PC Mag, haven't had a chance to install it yet.

I ran Zonealarm before but it had massive memory leak problems so I switched Kerio. Seems to work better now.

OK - here's my after action report. I totally uninstalled Zone Alarm Pro 6.5.722 (latest). It was simply getting too bloated and trying to do too many things.

I downloaded and installed Comodo. It was easy - it worked great, and I liked it except for one thing. Unlike ZA, it had no animated indicator in the tray that tells me what is coming down and going up. After about 4-5 years of ZA - I have really become dependent on it.

So - sadly - I uninstalled Comodo. I then installed the little free version of ZA, and things are OK once again.

I intend to write Comodo and see if they can animate their tray icon with in and out stuff, and I will be more than happy to put it back in.

SO how do you think this compares to Kerio 215 ? I had been using that for a bit with some success although I hear there are some updates\config files that can be downloaded for it but can't see it. It would be nice to have something that the XP SP2 center recognizes as current which at least on my system does not happen with Kerio.

I'm using it. It's okay, but the application learning process is a pain.

Not to mention when I shut down all Comodo-related processes, it seems to kill my computer's internet. I don't like it, but I guess I can live with it. I like to shut down all my processes before I game because my computer sucks.

DarkTXKnight:

Does Kerio have an animated tray icon that shows you Internet activity on your system?

I'll just stick with my NAT router, with all the unused ports locked up.
