Comodo Secure DNS (DNS Server addresses)

I am using Comodo Secure DNS with my Netgear WNR3500 H/W V1.00 and I was wondering when & Why the DNS Server addresses changed?

Here are the Current DNS addresses 8.26.56.26 & 8.20.247.20

the ones I Was using were 156.154.70.22 & 156.154.71.22

I switched to the new addresses but I am just wondering why they changed? and is this anything to worry about?

Thanks

PS I have Charter and the Charter DNS Servers sucked (Always redirecting me if I spelled a web address wrong to a Charter search page) so that is why I switched DNS Servers

Are you saying that your DNS addresses that you manually entered into your router settings, changed on you, and you didn't manually change them?

If so, did your router have a default admin password? You may have malware on your system.

No I manually changed them myself when I noticed they were different then the ones I was previously using (From the same source Comodo Secure DNS)
I was just wondering why the DNS Servers changed IP Addresses

As for why they changed: you'd have to ask your source, Comodo. I haven't heard of any huge DNS failure / security breach, but I'm not as in the loop as I used to be on such things.

I wouldn't worry about it. These kinds of infrastructure changes usually happen as part of a normal upgrade / maintenance cycle.

If you're interested in going deeper, you should compare the whois registration for your old DNS servers to your new ones and see if Comodo changed which company they trust or if this is just a different set of servers for the same provider.

How did you learn the addresses were being changed? Did they send you an email that you need to change the address? Did they perhaps explain the reason for the change?

I just happen to visit the Comodo site and I noticed that the addresses were different then what I had in the Netgear setup page

Answer: I recently downloaded the CISPREMIUM version, (which, praise the Lord, is now free!) It installed and changed my DNS settings to 156.154.70.22 and 156.154.71.22 And all works just fine. Later I noticed that when you search Google for "Comodo Secure DNS" it tells you to set them to 8.26.56.26 and 8.20.247.20. In fact, most everything I find on the web says their secure DNS settings are the ones that begin with 8..... YET, both sets seem to work equally well for me.

So if one set gives you trouble then you can switch to the other and they are both Comodo Secure DNS.

If you don't want Comodo to see your DNS requests, there is always the Google alternative: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Any of these will bypass your ISP, and that is a worthy goal, always.

Happy computing!
