Commuter train derails in suburban LA

Man, I'd hate to be in the front of one of the trains seeing the other train coming at you.

What do you do? Scream "INCOMING!"? Say a prayer? Jump?

Ick!

Damn. Any estimates on how many people were injured?

it's all over the LA news . . . . two metro link trains hit each other and a Union Pacific locomotive.

LOTS and lots of serious injuries . . . . 4 confirmed deaths . . . . fortunately there are MANY trauma centers very close by - UNlike a 3rd world country. 😉

Weather and FOG is bad for rescues. 🙁

watching the news right now, it's crazy. one train completely on it's side, another the first train is off the track and facing the opposite direction...

I heard from the radio over 100 injured and 3 confirmed deaths. I go to this area all the time. Its in the Atwater Village where a Best Buy and Costco are located. Hope most of them are minor injuries. :brokenheart:

anyone in the car that was on the tracks ?

Driver of the car survived (don't think he was in the car when it was hit) and is supposedly in police custody being questioned.

"CHOOO CHOO!"

from what i'm hearing - the guy was trying to commit suicide, chickened out, left the car on the tracks, and then the trains derailed.

all unconfirmed right now.

Appearantly the police think the car was placed in the tracks intentionally - not by accident.

yeah... either it is a very ill-tasted prank, or a crazed individual's rampage.

Wow....this is eerily similar to what happened on the first episode of 24 this season, with a car being deliberately parked on the tracks.

If that was the case, he shoulda done what normal people do and not use the friggin car, just throw his body in front of the train or something, not use a 3000lb vehicle that could derail a train and take at least 10 other people with him.
