Community College?

What do the people of ATOT think of community College, I'm attending right now to get my pre's out of the way, my buddies are attending the local State University and pay twice as much as I do for the same class, what do you think of community college?

#2 I am thinking of only taking one year at the CC then transfering to the state college, do you think this is a bad idea?why?

Nope as long as you get your degree from a good college who cares?

Hell, I'd go two years and get some of your gen-eds out of the way. Just make sure they transfer to the 4-year you want to eventually go to.

I am taking the required classes that have nothing to do with my major for my two years at one. The financial aid department made me a deal that i could not refuse.

I highly advocate going to CC for at least a year. If I could do it all over again, I gladly would.

It almost doesn't matter where you get your Bachelors if you plan on going to grad school, IMO at least.

But you'd miss out on the freshman dorms!

I think it depends, if you're applying to med school you have to reveal that you went to CC and had those credits transfered and i think that'll factor into your admissions.

Same here with financial, I get everything paid for, thanks uncle sam 😀

Only a few of my classes are transferable to a four year, I screwed around a lot in HS and ended up in math 95, and for some reason some of my classes just don't transfer so I need to look at changing them next term so I can have enough credit to transfer.

If I could do it all over again I would go to a CC for the first 1-2 years.

BUT, I would find out about what college/program I want to get into and then find out what classes I can take at a CC that will directly transfer into the program that I want in on.

Forgot about that. But you can live in the freshman dorms as a sophmore. Just don't tell anybody you are one 😉

community colleges are great if your classes meet the transfer requirements for the 4-year you want to go to.

I'm a highschool senior right now but I'm taking all my classes at the local community college. I'll have my 2-year degree when I graduate highschool this spring, but if I didn't I would definately save some cash and take my generals there.

if money is an issue, go for it. your life will not be as fun for that year, but everything will work out fine in the end, and a lot cheaper.

It's a great way cut costs as long as you check with the university you transfer into, don't want to repeat any classes that won't count. Your diploma won't have some special note saying you only spent 2 years instead of 4 at the university 😛

I went to community college and transferred to University of California, San Diego as a Math-computer science major. Awesome way to get into a university, especially if high school wasn't your thing.

Comunity College is like attending DeVry. It'll get the job done, but it's not something you want to brag about to your friends.

I find your condescending attitude to be quite negative and offensive. And what you say is not true at all. My friends in my programming classes look up to me, especially when I tell them that I never took the SAT.

I got 2 years out of the way by attending a community college
great way to save money, and you can always go party with your buds at the univeristy on the weekends

Your friends look up to you for your knowledge in programming, not because you go to an elite education institution. And I dont see how not taking the SATs would make people look up to you.

I dunno either, but they were 'wowed' when I told them.
