My wife submitted her two weeks notice today and was told that she'd be leaving on bad terms due to their policy of needing one month's notice.

Me and several others have told her to not even spend another brain cycle worrying about it. WWATOTD?

Ask your wife if the company would give her one-month notice if they were going to let her go. That should ease her worry.

Plus, companies cannot do squat to you once you leave. Even if a new employer calls for a reference, if they give anything more than Hire Date, Last Date of Employment, and Rehire Eligibility, that is grounds for a lawsuit.
