I just paid off an outstanding medical bill, or so I thought. Insurance was supposed to take care of all of it, didn't, and I never received notice otherwise until I got a bill from a collection company. After repeated communication with the company, I paid off the rest of what I owed, in two installments. The second payment was to have taken care of it, and they were to send me a receipt stating that I had paid the full amount owed.

Today, I got the receipt. Well, not quite a receipt. It was an attempt to collect on a debt. I don't know if they screwed up with the telecheque or what, but I apparently STILL owe them four cents.

They spent thirty-seven cents on postage to attempt to collect on this debt.

Who's your insurance company?

This is exactly why I never let people go with unknown companies for their health insurance. Blue Cross/Blue Shield is the way to go for most people.
