Common Middle Eastern & India Female Names

Recently my company went and looked up some interns at the local colleges/universities and there were a surprizing number of peoples from India looking for jobs. Well anyways we have been collecting resumes and just noticed the wide variety of names and some that we throught were female ended up being male and vice-versa.
So before i get in too much trouble...is there a list out there somewhere that has a list of name/sex pairs for peoples of middle eastern & India in orgin?

edit: fixed for the whole india aint middle eastern thing...its close enough 😛 and im guessing some of these people might be from egypt, israel,UAE, etc

I worked at a company that had a lot of ME folks working there. It took a little while, but there are way to tell, and it's not that difficult after a bit.

Yes, but did they score 4 touchdowns in a single game?

It IS an odd situation - you don't really *need* to know what sex the applicant is, but it makes life easier. For instance, I do phone interviews from time to time, and it's just nice to know what to expect.

When I have no clue and I call them up, whoever answers the phone I'm just like "is Nanenajadad there?" as opposed to when I call someone named bob, and a man answers the phone, in which case I simply ask "is this bob?"

those are the two we are trying to determine at the moment

hiring based on one's sex is illegal!
thats exactly why we are trying to determine from the names/experience who to interview.
We want to have a balanced interview process of both male and female so as not to discriminate since most of these applicants look like they have been practically taking the exact same classes/activities, but you can't straight out ask people their gender either.

Aishwarya is a female name.

Might want to google image search their names to get a good guess

Using this, Manpreet is either a bearded ugly guy or a beautiful woman.

Dipti looks to be a woman's name

It seems to me that you are doing exactly what you hope to avoid.

Room's running out in the W05 term for QUOT102, where you learn about "ethnic diversity" - and QUOT206 is full. That's the one where they show you how to hire that one single person who manages to cover all the sexual, racial, and financial quotas. 😛

that sucks. I'm sure the "i coudln't figure their gender from their names so I just took the best performing people" would be a letitimate excuse anyway if you accidentally ended up with all women or something
