Common Courtesy question

If you lay on your horn at someone and then try to intimidate them with aggressive driving, should you at least let the person know what they did wrong?

I was third in a line of cars behind a dip-shit trying to make an illegal left turn on a 4-lane road. Instead of waiting I pulled around them in the right lane. When I was already in the right lane a younger kid approached rapidly, (55 in a 35?) layed on the horn, and started tailgaiting. I was already going 40ish and there was about 10 car lengths between right before this occurred. We quickly hit a red light and I stopped short in my lane so he could pull alongside and we could discuss the misunderstanding but the young gentleman refused. I wish he would have had the courtesy to allow me to explain the situation.

A finger is normally the discussion. Some people just get pissed your going slower then them.

Someone in their mirror cannot determine speed like that... objects are closer than they appear.

Be aware of your surroundings. You really should be giving enough room to where someone going 55 in a 35 shouldn't have to slam on their brakes.

How is that important? I didn't want to wait behind a a couple cars so I went around them.

It was just over the crest of a small hill but then again the other driver never had to slam on his brakes, rather he accelerated (I heard his automatic kick down) to tailgate. When I moved over to let him pass he stopped accelerating and hung back a few car lengths.

8" of fresh snow this morning, roads are brutal, going down a 3 lane road and some jackass cuts across all three lanes to make a left turn, missing my bumper by about a foot. i couldnt believe it. like i wasnt even there. considering the conditions, theres no excuse. pay attention and dont make the normal moves you normally do on a dry sunny day.

Ugh agreed. We don't get much snow here, but when it happens there's inevitably a couple of extremely dangerous idiots pulling crap like that.


I will say that overall, people that don't pay any attention are far more dangerous than aggressive drivers. Just like in the op's example, the person going 20+ over was at least paying attention and slowed down... Versus the op who "didn't see him" and pulled out in front of him. Not trying to hate on the op here, but it's a pet peeve of mine (and I'm one of those guys who drives a fast car slow.)
