Common 3DMark ettiquette?

I was wondering, what is the common practice for settings in 3dmark03? Just run it? Or to turn all your driver settings to high performance? What do the main users do and what is "allowed", also the #1 highest scores, do they turn it down to high performance? Or do they just run it? I've always wondered this because turning the settings to high performance adds like 400-500 points to my 3dmark03.

you can look at their profiles and settings if you want a direct comparison.

It doesn't say if the texture preference or mip map detail level were... That's what I'm talking about.

Those that play the 3DMark game usually set their image quality to the lowest possible setting (and likely use a third party utility to reduce it even more) in order to achieve the highest possible score. It looks like Quake 3 but gives them a score they can brag with.

So when your benching you should lower all your settings?

If that is how you plan to play your games, sure. If all you want is the highest possible score in 3DMark, yes.

Is that what the majority of people do?

No, just those who are obsessed with obtaining the highest score for bragging rights. (eg, OMGFX5200PWNs9700proBBQ!!!)

i run it with the same settings i use in games: high quality. whats the point otherwise (if there is a point to 3dmark, other than that found on the e-penis)?

It looks like Quake 3 but gives them a score they can brag with.

Now just a second there Cowboy, Quake III is a nice looking game.

I never said it wasn't, but it is lacking compared to todays games: Far Cry, Doom 3, UT2004. 😉
