Comments Wanted on fan setup!

Greetings All;

I'm going to be setting up my first custom (self built) computer and I'd like some comments on the proposed fan setup! Here it is:

Inwin Q500 case.

1 120mm fan lower front (intake)69cfm
1 80mm Upper front (intake)(cooling hard drives) 42cfm

1 80mm exhaust near MB 42cfm
1 120mm exhaust upper rear above PS 69cfm
Power supply fan Exhaust ?cfm
1 slot cooler next to graphics card Approx 25cfm

Approx total cfm in: 111
Approx total cfm out: 136+ PS fan

Well what do you think? Could it be better with this setup?

BTW I'm going to be running an O/C'd Duron on an Epox 8kt3a+

Consider the fan noise, you may need all of them to cool your case, and the extra CFM may not help your overclock if you are already stable., start off with less and add more if needed, save yourself some effort and cash.

Then again, it could be nice to just do it for the fvck of it... that's what I'm doing.. I'm not ocing yet.. I'm not confident enough.. I'm goin in backasswards.. 🙂

IMHO I would get rid of the slot cooler. The output is very minimal. I believe the actual cfm is around 16. I had one below the heatsink on my VooDoo; but axed it.

I have the Q5oo with 3 Panaflo L1A's in it. One in the front lower, and the 2 in the back. I'm not running my T-Bird OC'd yet, but, my case temp vs ambient air temp is only a 1.7F difference. Ambient air temp is 73.4F now.

well.. I've seen two systems run unstable after a slot cooler was added, and gain their "sea legs" back after I ripped that baby back out. and they do lie about their cfm ratings.. hehe 🙂

anyone have a clue what ratings my 120mm panaflo has? FBA12G12W is the part number. yeah, I checked out www.panaflo.com and looked up all the fans just like it, but nothing at all has that same part number.

if anyone cares to visit that link, check out the amerage. this fan says .45A, and there is one fan that says 460 milliamps, or something like that. 100+ cfm. am I just being REALLY optimistic thinking my fan might hit about the same, since it is the closest in amperage.

on to the original post... even without the slot cooler, you'll still be fine. from what people have been saying, more out than in is a good thing, and the power supply contributes to exhaust, right? hehe

it's all good. for my sx1030b I've got 2 80mm that come with it running exhaust, plus the PS and that panaflow. 2 antec 92mm's for intake as well. one over the proc. one in front, unless I pick up a nice 80mm. then 80+92 in front 😀 hehe

Try to have the intake airflow to be equal to the Exhaust airflow cfm, that way you'll achive equalribum and your cd and floppy doesn't have to eat dust
