Hello all

I've used this site and these forums as a means to research this system, and now I'm about ready to order:

AMD S754 3000+ (with stock HSF)
Soltek k8an2e-gr
1gb samsung ram
Antec SLK2650 BQE w/ 350W power supply
Western Digital 80gb 8mb cache ide HDD

And i'm hoping to throw on a geforce 6600 GT AGP when they become available at ncix.com

My main concern is with the power supply
I have read countless threads saying 'any 350W supply will do' as long as it's from a reputable company (i.e. antec, enermax, etc.)

But then I have read almost as many threads on 'get the most expensive power supply you can!'

I'm hoping this power supply works because if it does, then I will be able to get everythign within budget without going over at all.

I wouldn't mind going up the 7$ or whatever it is to the Antech SLK3700AMB

I use the computer for school/occasional games and I dont overclock

Summary:
Can the antec PSU handle the system?
Would it be worth dropping another $70 to go up to the 3200+?

I have really appreciated the information from this website and these forums so to that I offer my sincere gratitude, thank you very much for your time/input.

Darren

Welcome to the forums!, is this your first build?

For the recorded that PSU will be fine, it will easily handle your system. A good 350-400watt unit can hand just about any single CPU system you could imagine.

I would say no $70 isn't worth moving up to the 3200+. If that was my system I'd ditch the OEM HSF and go with an Alpha, Thermalright, or Zalman and take on some overclocking.

Yes it is my first build, I am greatly looking forward to it :]

Thanks for the advice on the heatsinks/final word on the PSU, I can finally stop worrying about it
