Total system cost: about $1500

never heard of amd 54, no comment on hd since i dont know if the performance of the sata2 (if any) would offset the warranty of a seagate, unless wd suddenly made 5 year warranties on that model. make sure ram is a single stick. try to get your hands on a gto².

Yea I'm thinking 2 gigs mabey around next August (My B-Day) and if I can find a GTO2 that would be nice for around $250. JW if theres that much difference between GTO and GTO2 because I won't be OC'ing.

It's a decent system, although I'm assuming that the thing called "Xclio 450BL" is your planned PSU? If this is the case, I strongly recommend switching in a name-brand unit, especially since you plan on also powering 5 LED fans on it. There's little point in pairing quality parts with a no-name PSU that's just going to blow everything up in a month or two.

Other than that it looks decent. Personally I'd take an nvidia graphics care over the ATI, and I'd get some non-value RAM, and the "free" version of Win XP Pro, but meh, that's mostly personal preference.

The X800 GTO^2 is the one that can be overclocked to an X850 XT PE with a BIOS mod and decent cooling. The vanilla GTO... whatever, do what you want.

Personally, I'd get the GTO^2 (GTO Squared) and overclock the mothercrap out of it. Your business though.

Get 2GB of RAM if your budget allows.

The question is why CD drive or is that a typo? DVD burner if possible, at the least get a DVD drive. DVD burners like those from NEC are very good in quality and quite cheap at $40-50.

I'd probably go with a Seagate for their 5 year warranty. The WD probably outperforms Seagates by a tad (probably not noticeable by most people) but the longer warranty on the Seagate usually seals the deal for most.

If you can find a X800GTO2 for roughly $200-250, it's a great deal provided you take the risk of modding it to a full fledged X850.

Up to this point, it doesn't seem to be much of a risk; I have yet to hear of anyone who hasn't been able to unlock the pipes thus far. 100% success rate or, for that matter, anything near it, is incredible. I think it's well worth the risk.

THe Xclio is a very good PSU ask any member here. It's the best PSU for price next to the $50 fortron. I know the name brand PSU's like Seasonic, Fortron, PCP&C, Enermax, etc.

2 gigs is something I will definatly do, and again if I can find a GTO2 I will get it.

Thanks for the comments

I doubt it will go down in price much due to the very high demand for it.

But i thought it was alot less that $300 😕

I don't follow American prices too closely, but that seems too high for it.
