I just need peoples opinions on my hope to be build. i am trying to keep the budget low but also getting a good working computer. O ya i want it to be on the quiet side.

CPU:AMD Opteron 165/170 skt 939, which one should i choose?
Case: Antec P180, have heard good things about this case
MB: Epox ep-9npa ultra no sli
HD: 1x74gb raptor, 1x250gb WD Caviar SE16
Video:Geforce 6800gt or 7800gt
PSU:Not sure yet but looking at fortron or seasonic... i like the sleeved cables that come with the fortron psu
Memory: unsure looking for inexpensive but decent ram
OS:Windows MCE 2005

Plz tell me anything that would be good to add or substitute for some parts.

-thanks

I would get the 165 and just overclock it. The 7800GT is definitely the better choice out of the video cards. If this is a gaming computer I would try to make room in your budget by skimping on other things to get the better video card. I am assuming that the second drive is just going to be used for storage. If this is the case, I would just try to find a nice deal on a large IDE drive. For such uses performance really is not a factor, so you can save some money here. You could also just totally forget about the Raptor. If you want a quiet system you definitely want Seasonic. Though the Fortron AX500-A is not loud at all.

Get the 165 and OC it. Yes get value ram, i assume your only getting 1 because you are gonna use the stick you already have. As for the PSU, ive heard bad things about forton in general, not saying theyre bad, its just i would go with a seasonic. S12 500/600 are apparently excellent PSU's and they did well in toms stress test a while ago. I ordered an S12 500 myself so ill soon see if theyre any good. Oh, and theyre supposed to be real quiet too!
