Command & Conquer: Theater of War $9.99 @Gamestop

If you've never played Command & Conquer, or even if you have but have never played Command & Conquer 2: Red Alert, immediately drop what you are doing, order this bundle, and call in sick for the next two weeks.

This remains one of the best gaming franchises of all time.

The new Yuri expansion pack for C&C2 (which, alas, costs about twice what this entire bundle costs) is also well worth the investment.

I remember buying each of these games for full retail, always somewhere between $40-$50, and they were all worth it in spades except for Tiberian Sun, which was still okay but not worth the $50 I paid. That said, this pack of titles is invaluable and C&C: Red Alert is the pinnacle of RTS gaming in my opinion.

I completely agree on Tiberian Sun. Slightly fun to play, only because I'm such a huge C&C fan, but not worth buying by itself.

I was a huge C&C fan until Tiberian Sun. It completely destroyed my faith in Westwood. Renegade is beginning to do the same :disgust:

Ok, tell me what's wrong with Tiberian Sun. The reason I ask is I recently bought it bundled with Firestorm for $15.00. I haven't opened it yet so I can still return it. My husband is hooked on C&C but if Tiberian Sun/Firestorm isn't as good as the rest I may return it.

As far as the Gamestop bundle, is Red Alert 2 the same as Red Alert The Aftermath?

red alert 2 is the latest installment of the c&c franchise
red alert: the aftermath is an expansion pack for c&c: red alert

The funny part about this deal is when you go to the Theater of War page and it says $9.99 in big bold letters, then right next to it is a link to related products... Tiberian Sun $14.99.

Like Tung said Aftermath is an expansion pack for the original Red Alert. Red Alert 2 is a different game. Also I too thought Tiberian Sun wasn't worth the $40 I payed for it, but it was a decent game. Just nothing spectacular. I don't think you have anything to worry about if you got it for $15, especially with Firestorm, which I heard improved the game a good deal.

Thanks Tung & ddjkdg. I guess I'll keep what I bought and pass on the Gamestop bundle. Can't justify buying it only for Red Alert 2 since that's the only one he doesn't have.

My advice would be to return Tiberian Sun, and get this bundle, if for nothing else than Red Alert 2. RA2 is by FAR the best of the series, and I really think he'll love it.

I wouldn't be surprised if you had trouble running C&C and Red Alert in XP since they are so old. Tiberian Sun should work, and Red Alert 2 should definitely work. Red Alert 2 is the only one I have tried to run under XP and it worked fine.

Guess I'll be the voice of dissent and say that I liked Tiberian Sun. I had tons o' fun online playing that one. Absolutely had a great time. I've never understood why everyone badmouthed it. So to each their own. Some ppl swear by FPS's, too, but I wouldn't want Quake or whatever the other games are if they were given to me.

Just my 1/2 cent worth.

<< I had major problems trying to run these games on XP so i sold them, anyone else have this problem? >>

I didn't have any problems running Tiberian Sun under XP, but I haven't tried the original C&C or Red Alert yet. I haven't had any problems with any games in XP though. Heck, even my old DOS version of Warcraft 2 works great, sound and all.

I've played Firestorm and Tiberian Sun on XP...seems to run fine. But after playing Red Alert 2...I couldn't go back!
